❤️ THIS RANT SENT IN BY C, AN ASSISTED LIVING CNA ❤️ -CATHY

I am a C.N.A. in a assisted living.

I started 5 years ago at a nice assisted living. I had one lady at night to shower and dress, and 1 lady on hospice care.

We have over 50 residents. We have 1 H.C.A. and 1 Med Tech at night. We started to have to do tables because the kitchen was short. We got residents who are two person lifts. We are not allowed to have hoyer lifts or a assistant to stand.

If housekeeping is short we do their work if there is a problem with maintenance we have to do it at night and weekends because there is not a housekeeping or maintenance on weekends or at night .

Understand we have to have 3 months of training and be certified. But they cannot do are job not even push a residents.

We have been short staff every week in the last 3 years. I don’t hire people someone gets paid to do that. First it was the people were not good enough to work. Then it was covid and lots of people would not work.

Well now we hear people come in to turn in app and they are told we don’t need the help. Or they never show up after orientation. Some of this may be true but come on 3 year and still no staff.

We at one time had over 5 people on hospice in a assisted living they found out they could keep the rich people there if they go down by putting them on hospice. More work for us and they become total care. We are not to have total care but it is ok if there hospice.

And no matter what they say they are not thankful of us. As soon as someone turns them down to work extra they get all mad and talk about them being lazy. Well they may have worked in the last month extra more then 10 times.

It can be one of the hardest jobs to do. I have been hit on by a person fist every day and was told she don’t hit that hard. This person pull my finger to the point of almost braking it. And still was expected to care for the lady.

Management sucks where I work taking all the time off anytime they want. While we are working on are days off extra shifts.

I am a caregiver and I have always been a caregiver. But I get more respect from some of the residents then Management.
