❤️ THIS RANT SENT IN BY H ❤️ -CATHY
I have been a CNA for 30 years. My frustration is they are short ever where.
Sometimes you don’t feel appreciated from Management. Many of Them only come out of if there is a problem. Very rarely do they ask how we are doing.
We need resources where we can tell them how we feel.
And yes many of us are under paid.
We need Unions to fight for better wages. You can make 30 an hour working for Agency’s, but it’s not guaranteed hours. I tried that route.
Peace and Blessings to all CNA’s. You are appreciated for all that you do.

A question on my yearly self review asked if there was anything specifically that management could do differently. What I wanted to put down was “Eliminate phrases such as “Back in my day…” “When I was an *insert title*…”. This is not back in the day. These are today’s issues, with today’s residents, staff and problems. We have to do better than using those past experiences as a bandaid to cover issues of mistreatment, burn out, and short staffing. I didn’t want it to come off as snarky and wrote something else about retaining staff.
Sara, thanks for sharing. Its unfortunate that we work in these workplaces where we dont feel safe enough to share how we really feel- I can empathize with you. These problems are very real today and we need ALL the support we can get TODAY
Unfortunately when you call out the negative things within the work environment management will see you as a threat and then take affirmative action to weed you out. You become the “instigator “ instead of being seen as a trail blazer for positive change. We are expected to keep quiet and follow along. If you raise any objections they’ll quickly remind you that you’re not an an RN, administrative or an otherwise “important” job title. CNA is seen as unskilled labor but is necessary enough for nurses to need us or else they can’t chart and pass pills.
