I have been a CNA for over more than half my life ( 25 years). I luv being a CNA and wouldn’t change it for the world.
I was a grandmas girl growing up, so helping the elderly always came natural to me.
Staffing issues, especially CNA’s, is becoming a real problem. We are not taking lunches, sometimes not even our breaks because we don’t have enough CNA’s on the floor to properly care for our residents. I often go home feeling defeated wishing I could do more. These residents have worked their whole lives and they deserve the best.
If I had a magic wand, I would put more CNA’s on the floor so we could properly take care of our residents, without feeling rushed, and feeling like we’re making the difference.
Elderly shouldn’t have to sell their homes and everything they’ve worked so hard for to pay their medical bills. There has to be another way.
We as CNA’s are struggling mentally, emotionally, and physically…. there’s days when I feel like I can’t do this anymore but I luv my residents too much. CNA’s are the backbone to the medical field and deserve more.
